(Reading, PA) -- The city council has voted to grant nearly five-million-dollars in American Recovery Plan Act funds to 21 non-profit organizations in Reading. In action taken at a special meeting Tuesday, the council voted on each of the nonprofits individually, rather than as a group. The city leaders say that process allowed any group that may have had conflicts of interest to abstain.
