>>Reading's Mayor Says City's Financial Future Looks Bright

(Reading, PA) -- Reading's mayor says the city is doing very well financially, especially after its exit from Act 47 recovery status earlier this year. Mayor Eddie Morán, in his annual budget address to the city council earlier this week, said his proposed budget for 2023 won't raise taxes and will produce over 98-million dollars in revenue. Morán says the city has experienced very strong collections across all major funding sources, especially for real estate transfer taxes and the earned income tax. He also says the city hasn't taken on any more debt and doesn't expect to borrow funds in the coming year.
