(Reading, PA) -- Officials say the 2023 Berks County budget does not contain a tax increase. The 658-million-dollar proposal introduced late last week avoids both property tax hikes for residents as well as program cuts. Budget chief Robert Patrizio Junior says the budget represents a nearly 82-million-dollar increase from the 2022 plan. He adds that a nearly 15-million-dollar deficit will be covered with reserve funds.
