(Reading, PA) -- A hearing about vote recount petitions that have been filed for 30 Berks County precincts will take place Thursday morning. Judge James Lillis will hear why election officials believe the petitions should be dismissed. Some county leaders say the multiple requests are part of a reported effort by failed Republican candidates who want to force hand recounts. The Berks County Republican Committee said it filed its petitions after receiving complaints that machines were switching Republican votes to Democratic ones. Election officials have said those fears are unfounded.
