More Schools Push for Girls' Wrestling Programs
(Reading, PA) - Several school districts in Berks and Lancaster Counties are pushing for girls to be on wrestling teams. Some 20 districts in those areas have school-sponsored wrestling programs for girls and there are 70 other districts statewide that also have started to offer them. To be considered for P-I-A-A status, 100 school districts would need to offer sanctioned girls' programs. Once that happens, the PIAA can be petitioned to officiate girls' wrestling as a high school sport with a state championship.
