York Lawmaker Skeptical of Governor's Budget Proposals

(Harrisburg, PA) -- A state legislator from York says he's skeptical of at least two budget initiatives proposed by Governor Josh Shapiro. Republican Seth Grove, who is now the minority chair of the Appropriations Committee, he has doubts about creating a special fund to support the state police as well as plans to link the state 9-1-1 surcharge to inflation. He doesn't think mobile phone users would ultimately realize savings from the proposed elimination of cellphone taxes. He also says creating special funds for police would result in less transparency and legislative oversight.
