Reading Police Chief Says Hoax School Calls Are Big Challenge
(Reading, PA) -- Reading Police Chief Richard Tornielli says false calls to report bombs or shootings at area schools are a big challenge. He tells WFMZ-TV that even though most of them turn out to be a hoax, his department still has to use its resources to investigate and make sure of that. Some Pennsylvania lawmakers are looking at legislation that would make it a felony for falsely reporting emergency threats at schools. However, Chief Tornielli says that might not solve the problem because investigators have discovered many of the false calls are coming from overseas.
