More Parking Spaces Added in Reading

(Reading, PA) -- A change to some street lines in a few Reading neighborhoods is expected to add 120 on-street parking spaces. The Reading City Council approved shifting the center lines in the 200 and 300 blocks of North Eighth Street to allow parking on both sides as well as and in the 200 block of Grape Street to allow parking on the south side of the street. The council also previously approved a separate proposal for 76 additional spaces to be added in the business district. That will be accomplished by moving no-parking zones on Fourth, Sixth and Cherry Streets. Changes are also being considered for several other locations in the city, in response to Mayor Eddie Moran's request to help solve the city's parking crisis.
