Declaration Of Independence to Be Staged At Historic Inn For Independence Day

(Berks County, PA) -- The 18th-century White Horse Inn in Douglassville will be the site of a reading of the Declaration of Independence as part of July 4th festivities. Promoters with the Historic Preservation Trust of Berks County say actor and educator Christine Emmert will read from the historic document. The free program will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 2nd. Historians say the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence in Berks County was July 8th of 1776.
