Reps. Reschenthaler, Deluzio Introduce Measure to Reduce Mine Methane Emissions

(Reading, PA) -- Two U.S. Representatives from Pennsylvania are part of a group of lawmakers who've introduced a House bill that would reduce mine methane emissions. U.S. Representatives John Reschenthaler, a Republican, and Chris Deluzio, a Democrat are both sponsors of the Methane Reduction and Economic Growth Act of 2023. It would amend part of the IRS Code to qualify methane, which otherwise would've been released as a greenhouse gas emission, to be acquitted equivalent to the capture of CO2. In addition to reducing mine emissions, the lawmakers say the measure will create jobs, enhance energy security and clean up local environments.
