Mount Penn Councilman Censured for Behavior

Mount Penn Councilman Censured for Behavior

(Reading, PA) -- The Mount Penn borough council has voted to censure a councilman for his reported belligerent actions after he was served with court papers. Joseph Cunliffe reportedly was verbally aggressive toward office staffers in early June concerning paperwork related to a property transfer. The recommendation for censure came after Cunlifee refused to resign after being asked to do so by the council's personnel committee. The censuring means Cunliffe will be barred from participating in borough committees and won't be permitted in the borough office during regular hours unless he is accompanied by other council members.
