Flood Damage at Antietam Forces Classes to Other School Buildings for the Year

(Mount Penn, PA) -- Antietam School Board members in Berks County say they'll move classes from several of their buildings due to flood damage. Officials say grades four through 12 will largely be housed at the Mount Penn Elementary Center and grades K-3 will be at the Mount Penn Primary Center. Superintendent Heidi Rochlin said Monday that a preliminary flood damage assessment at the Middle/ Senior High School shows nearly 22-million-dollars' worth of damage. The building is expected to be closed for a year.

(Mount Penn, PA) -- Officials from Antietam Schools are asking for help from the community to move items and get classrooms ready for the start of school. Classes are being moved to other buildings because of flooding damage at the Middle/ Senior High School. Volunteers can work at four different locations but need to fill out their contact information and sign a waiver online. Volunteers need to be available from Tuesday through next Thursday. The school year starts Aug. 21st.
