Ambulance Service Shuts Down After Nearly 40 Years

(Kutztown, PA) -- A nonprofit ambulance service has had to shut down, reportedly because of a lack of funding from the municipalities it serves. The Reading Eagle says the private Kutztown Ambulance service had been in business 37 years. Company leader says the closure has come after years of discussions with local officials over its financial crisis. The independent, community-based responder served the borough of Kutztown as well as Maxatawny, Greenwich and Richmond townships.
