"Pagoda Fest" Deemed Success, May Become Annual Event
(Reading, PA) -- Promoters for this past weekend's Pagoda fest say it was so successful that they might make it an annual event. The iconic building at the top of Mount Penn was the focus of the festival Saturday, which event planners saw drew big crowds on the property surrounding the landmark. It was planned as part of the 275th anniversary celebration for Reading and included food booths, performances by local bands, a circus-style act and kid-focused activities. Event coordinator Laura Reppert says proceeds from the event will go toward the estimated 15-million-dollars needed to re-open the structure to the public.
