>Governor Signs School Breakfast Bill In Reading

(Reading, PA) -- Governor Josh Shapiro has used a trip to Reading to ceremoniously sign a bill that provides free breakfasts to state students. His visit Friday came a few days after House Bill 6-1-1 was enacted as part of Pennsylvania's new budget bill. The governor told students at Millmont Elementary about how the plan provides free school breakfasts each day for over a million-and-a-half students in the state. State education officials say there are over 68-thousand students in Berks who can now receive those free breakfasts, including some 18-thousand in Reading. The governor was joined by Dr. Khalid Mumin, the former Reading schools superintendent who is now the state education secretary.
