>>Berks Counselor Starts Non-Profit to Employ Autistic Adults

(Lancaster, PA) - A Lancaster woman who works as a counselor in Berks County is starting a nonprofit foundation to help adults with autism. Claire Malfaro is a licensed professional who says the goal of her Positively Produced Foundation is to help pave the way for adults with autism to get good jobs with help from established businesses. She says less than a quarter of adults with autism are employed, including those with a college degree. Malfaro says autistic traits such as being excessively attentive to detail, being good at repetitive tasks and the ability to retain large amounts of information can be assets in certain jobs. She's currently working with Reading Hospitality Management, the Reading Country Club and GoggleWorks as part of her new foundation.
