>Bridge Between Reading, West Reading Could be Renamed for Fallen Police Officer

(Reading, PA) -- The Pennsylvania State Senate has approved renaming the Penn Street Bridge in Reading for a fallen policeman. Officer Scott Wertz was killed while on duty in August of 2006. He was responding to a call with his partner to help other officers who were attempting to break up a fight at a convenience store on Eight and Walnut Streets. Senator Judy Schwank, who sponsored the bill, says Wertz's two decades of service and sacrifice is something that should be honored.
