(Reading, PA) -- A man has been charged in Reading with beating his father and a woman in their bed. He then allegedly locked the couple inside while the house was on fire. Police say the badly injured couple had to force open the door to escape. Justin L. Staples, who is 38, has been charged with attempted criminal homicide. Three other household members were not injured and safely escaped the home near Sixth and Greenwich Streets following the alleged assault on Monday. The couple has been hospitalized with serious injuries.
