Stepped-up DUI Enforcement Continues Until Tuesday in Berks County

(Reading, PA) -- Police in Berks County say officers will continue with sobriety checkpoints and stepped-up DUI patrols through Tuesday, the actual day of Halloween. They urge drivers to continue to plan ahead with having a sober ride in place regardless of whether you're drinking or planning to use another impairing substance. A news release from the North Central Regional DUI Enforcement Program says the illegal or prescription use of marijuana impairs cognitive performance and could lead to a DUI. Officials say even over-the-counter and prescription medications can have impairing effects.
