Berks County CFO says Property Taxes Will Increase with New Budget

(Reading, PA) -- The county's chief financial officer says the newly-approved Berks County budget will increase real estate taxes next year. Robert Patrizio says the new plan for 2024 calls for a hike for that would average 835-dollars for every 100-thousand-dollars' in assessments. The budget approved unanimously late last week by county commissioners calls for the first property tax increase in six years. Patrizio says the tax hike is a result of more costs for staffing, inmate health care and mandated increases in 9-1-1 services.
