Retaining Walls May be Installed at Hampden Park Sports Field
(Reading, PA) -- The Reading Planning Commission has given preliminary approval to develop a retaining wall at Hampden Park reservoir field. The property at 1001 Hampden Boulevard is owned by the city, but the application is from the Reading School District. School officials said last month they want to stabilize the hillside there to prevent further water erosion that has caused damage to the turf field. They say the turf now needs to be replaced because of the damage but they'd like a series of concrete retaining walls in place to prevent more water damage before the new turf is installed.
