New Jersey Man Charged with Stabbing Trooper in Berks County

(Reading, PA) -- A state trooper from the Hamburg barracks station is recovering after he was stabbed in the leg several times. A news release doesn't name the trooper, who was serving a warrant in northern Berks County Saturday for mental health treatment. Bradley Odenath of Pine Hill, New Jersey was taken into custody for a psychiatric evaluation and has since been committed to Berks County Prison in lieu of bail. He's charged with assault, resisting arrest and recklessly endangering another person. The injured trooper is expected to recover.
