Kim Ward Re-Elected as state Senate President Pro Tempore

(Harrisburg, PA) -- The Pennsylvania Senate has reelected Kim Ward as Senate President Pro Tempore. The vote for the lawmaker's second term in the position came during a brief session Tuesday afternoon. She was sworn in shortly after that by a state supreme court justice. Ward, a Republican from Westmoreland, is the first woman in the history of state legislature to serve as Senate President Pro Tempore and Senate Majority Leader in both the Pennsylvania House and Senate. The Senate will reconvene for new legislative business in about a month.
