Developers Withdraw Plans for Warehouses near Hottenstein Road in Berks County

(Reading, PA) -- Developers have withdrawn plans for two large warehouse projects in Maxatawny Township. The plans called for a one-million-square-foot warehouse and a 660-thousand-square-foot warehouse north of Route 222, with Hottenstein Road running between them. Previously when the projects were approved, nearby residents said they were upset over an additional 77-hundred vehicle trips possibly being added to the area every day. They'd also voiced concern about the projects' effect on local Mennonites, who travel the area roads by horse-and-buggy and bicycle.
