Antietam School Board Will Build Instead Of Buying Former Early Learning Center

(Lower Alsace Township, PA) -- The Antietam School District has approved a new proposal to place temporary modular classrooms at the site of the district's former middle senior high school. The facility at 100 Antietam Road in Lower Alsace Township was severely damaged in a July flood. District leaders also say previous plans to buy a former early learning center to solve their space dilemma are no longer feasible. On Monday, the board approved letting bids for the demolition of the former middle senior high school. They also agreed to hire a Reading architectural firm to do a feasibility study on a new elementary building. The district will borrow 10-million-dollars to fund the projects. Officials hope the modular buildings will be in place for the elementary classes in time for the start of school this fall.
