Former Office Building Receives Council Approval for Apartment Conversion
(Reading, PA) - Two Brooklyn developers have come to an agreement with Reading officials about turning a downtown office building into apartments. The city council had previously challenged the Dream Ventures PA firm over density requirements for the proposed Penn Street Apartments at Sixth and Penn Streets. The council approved the deal Monday night after the developers agreed to reduce the number of units in order to increase the square footage for some of them. Council President Donna Reed, the lone "no" vote, said she couldn't approve the deal for what she called the "tiny, tiny" apartments going forward.
