Lawmaker Offers Help with Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program

State Senator Tracy Pennycuick is offering help to residents who want to apply for the state Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program. She will be holding special office hours throughout April in Berks and Montgomery Counties.

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is open to residents aged 65 or older, widows and widowers aged 50 or older, and anyone who's older than 18 who is 100 percent disabled. To qualify, participants also need to have a household income of $45,000 or less.

The good news is that income limits and refund amounts have been increased. So, if you didn't qualify before, you might be eligible now. Rebates are calculated based on 2023 income and the amount of property tax or rent paid in 2023. The rebates can range from $380 to $1,000.

"We helped many residents apply for rebates in March, and I encourage folks to make an appointment for assistance this month,” Pennycuick said. “Income limits and refund amounts have been increased, so residents who did not previously qualify for this relief might now be eligible.”

To schedule an appointment, residents can call Pennycuick’s office at 215-541-2388.
