Animals Removed From 'Deplorable' Conditions At Bern Township Home

(Berks County, PA) -- State and local police, along with members of the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, were on hand Wednesday as animals were taken from a Bern Township home. Agents went to the scene yesterday to follow-up on a report regarding an injured animal and say they found that animals living in the home were being kept in deplorable conditions. An estimated fifty cats and dogs were taken away from the scene and to a local shelter for evaluation. Some animals were found dead inside the residence. There has been no word of charges in the case.
