State Committee Proposes Wernersville Facility Closure
(Harrisburg, PA) -- The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is planning to close a state run parole facility in Berks County. The department announced the closure of Wernersville Community Corrections Center and several other state-run facilities on Monday. The corrections center has generated controversy for years due to its close proximity to a high school. The DOC say the closures are expected to save the commonwealth more than 100-million-dollars in future fiscal years.
