Reading police are actively searching for the suspect involved in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Melvyn Frazier Jr. The incident occurred in June when Frazier was shot after leaving a house party on the 1200 block of Oak Lane in Reading, Pennsylvania. Authorities are urging the public to provide any information that could lead to the suspect's capture.
Frazier, originally from Lynchburg, Virginia, was visiting family in Reading when the tragedy occurred. He was pronounced dead at Reading Hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest. The shooting, which took place early on a Sunday morning, is believed to have stemmed from a nearby house party on Lorraine Road, according to Reading Eagle.
Frazier's family, who relocated to Virginia from Berks County, described him as a "bright light" who loved music and dancing. They have made emotional pleas for justice, emphasizing that Frazier was not involved in gang activities or substance use. "He was a part of this community," said his aunt, Hydeia Jallo, in a statement.
The Berks County District Attorney's office is assisting in the investigation, which remains active. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Reading Police Department at 610-655-6116 or submit tips anonymously via Crime Alert Berks County's tip line. A cash reward is offered for information leading to an arrest.
