Authorities have identified Julio Echevarria as the suspect in a double shooting that occurred early Sunday morning (May 10) outside El Tubo Bar and Grill in Reading, Pennsylvania. The 46-year-old is accused of shooting two individuals during a large fight involving nearly 20 people.
According to WFMZ-TV, police responded to reports of gunfire around 2 a.m. at the intersection of South Seventh and Laurel streets. Upon arrival, officers found Echevarria inside a sedan, allegedly attempting to hide a gun in the passenger compartment. A male victim was discovered approximately 30 feet from the vehicle with two gunshot wounds to his arm, while a female victim later arrived at Reading Hospital with a stomach wound.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from the scene, which showed Echevarria as a main aggressor in the fight. He reportedly pulled a pistol from his waistband and fired multiple shots, hitting the victims.
Echevarria is currently held without bail in Berks County Jail, facing charges including aggravated assault and reckless endangerment, as reported by the Reading Eagle. The incident is part of an ongoing investigation, with police declining to release further details about another shooting in downtown Reading that occurred approximately 15 hours later.
